Copeland
Copeland is one of the subsidiaries and brands owned by the American company Emerson, and are known as one of the oldest and most famous refrigeration compressor brands. For 80 years, Copeland's name has been introduced as a new technology in providing a variety of refrigeration compressors to the market.
History of company
The Copeland brand traces its history to a Michigan inventor, Edmund Copeland, who founded his company in Detroit, Michigan in 1921 to make compressors for the refrigeration industry. The first favored mechanical refrigeration system developed by Copeland is in the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C .
When the business faced problems during the Great Depression, Edmund changed his business into railroad and Dallas Winslow bought the company assets and moved the business to Sidney, Ohio in 1937.
Dallas Winslow was an expert in bankrupt firms. He was also involved in two other companies. Because of Copeland new owner just went to resell the assets, four aggressive, enthusiastic Copeland managers bought the company from Mr. Winslow in 1939. Since then, Copeland grown up and became a subsidiary of St. Louis’s company, Emerson Electric, in 1986. The company again set a codified industry standard by producing the new Scroll Compressor in 1987 and by steadily innovation and creating sustainable infrastructure has become the reference not only in comfort but in refrigeration and heating applications too.
From the production of hermetic and semi-hermetic compressors supplied in the first days to the production of hermetic Discus and Scroll Copeland compressors in the late 90s, as well as today's offering of hermetic Stream, digital and variable speed Scroll and Reciprocating compressors with drive technology and various condensing units for comfort and refrigeration applications. Thousands of customers trusted Copeland technology and more than 100 million compressors just for scroll one are installed worldwide, more than any other scroll compressor brand.
